Mobility of an electron in a multimode polar lattice

چکیده
The interaction of a free electron with a polar lattice possessing more than one infrared-active opticalphonon mode is considered. From the full Lagrangian describing the electron-lattice system in the presence of an applied field we derive an effective electron-phonon coupling constant and an effective longitudinal opticalphonon frequency that we argue give accurate predictions when used in the extensive, existing polaron theories. We apply this formalism to the strongly coupled large polaron of Bi12SiO20 , where the Boltzmann equation cannot apply. We calculate a theoretical prediction for the large polaron mobility as a function of temperature which gives good agreement with experiment. We determine the temperature dependence of Feynman’s variational parameters v and w to assist in our predictions. @S0163-1829~99!01426-5#

This article presents analysis of the design and simulation of a new class of environmentally aware clustering algorithms for wireless ad hoc networks. The clustering algorithm establishes an adap-tive self-organizing arrangement that enables multimode routing strategies. Multimode operation is needed to enhance scalability and robustness. In the present case, clustering is based on a criterion...
متن کاملElectrical response of ammonium-rich water ice
The electrical properties of water ice impact the study of diverse frozen environments, in particular the radar sounding of ice masses. The high-frequency response of meteoric polar ice depends partly on the bulk concentration of ammonium (NH4 ), but the nature of this response has been unclear. Here we use broadband dielectric spectroscopy to investigate the electrical response of laboratoryfr...

In this paper, drain-source current, transconductance and cutoff frequency in AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors have been investigated. In order to obtain parameters of exact AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors such as electron density, the wave function, band gap, polarization charge, effective mass and dielectric constant, the hydrostatic pressure and temperature effects a...
متن کاملElectron Mobility in InP at Low Electric Field Application
Temperature and doping dependencies of electron mobility in InP semiconductor has been calculated using an iterative technique. The following scattering mechanisms, i.e, impurity, polar optical phonon, acoustic phonon and piezoelectric are included in the calculation. It is found that the electron mobility decreases monotonically as the temperature increases from 100 K to 600 K. The low tempera...
